Good to know
- Catalan cooking uses a lot of pork: embotits (cured sausages), botifarra and jamón. Ask “¿lleva cerdo?” (does it contain pork?).
- El Raval — Carrer de Joaquín Costa, Carrer de l'Hospital and around — is full of halal kitchens and butchers.
- Seafood rice, fideuà, grilled fish and pa amb tomàquet are pork-free local dishes — ask about stock and fat.
- Many bakeries use lard; Moroccan and Turkish pastry shops are a safe sweet option.
