Updated October 20, 2026

Granada is one of the easiest Spanish cities for halal food. Below the Albaicín, Calle Elvira and Calderería Nueva are lined with Moroccan tea houses (teterías), kebab shops and North African restaurants, and the Great Mosque of Granada stands at the top of the old Moorish quarter.

Good to know

  • Walk Calle Elvira and Calderería Nueva in the evening: mint tea, Moroccan pastries and tagines are everywhere.
  • Free tapas come with drinks in Granada's bars, but they often contain ham — say “sin cerdo, por favor”.
  • The garden of the Great Mosque, next to the San Nicolás viewpoint, is open to visitors and has one of the best views of the Alhambra.
  • Book Alhambra tickets weeks ahead; the tea houses below make a good stop after the visit.
